Baby products that come in handy

Updated: Jul 9, 2019

Shopping for your baby can be hard because you have so many different products and brands, you can't really decide if it would actually be useful or a complete waste of money. Plus if you are a new mother then it’s even more confusing.

The mandatory shopping list for baby products

Here are a few items that I purchased once I had my baby which really helped me in making my baby comfortable and use as a mother.

  1. The Bathing Chair - Bathing your newborn can be very overwhelming and a daunting experience. Especially if you have no experience with babies. My mother in law told me about the bathing chair for babies. Back in the days these things never existed. Our mothers used to just somehow manage in the tub, or make the baby sit on their feet and quickly quickly bathe the baby. But then I got to know about the baby bathing chair and it is one of the best purchases I've ever made. It's so useful and it makes the whole process super easy! I call it the wonder baby chair! It is easily available on amazon or any baby shop. It costs less than a 1000 bucks.

  2. Cool Mist Humidifier - This product was advised for my daughter by her paediatric doctor. She had a cold for a long time and just wasn't getting better. So we bought the Chicco cool mist humidifier which made a difference after using it on the first night itself. It adds moisture in the air. It eases coughing and congestion. Hot water or steam can burn your baby. The day I feel that my baby is going to get a flu I switch it on just to be on the safe side. Actually, my husband was having congestion and was finding it difficult to sleep at night. So I turned it on for him as well, he said he slept much much better than the previous night.

  3. Feeding Pillow- A very very useful pillow for feeding mothers. It helps you hold your baby indifferent feeding positions. Your baby is supported so you don't have to strain your arm while holding her or put a pillow under your legs (when you are sitting crossed legs) . All you need is the feeding pillow. It’s great for your posture because you aren't sitting in a slouch. This also prevents neck pain and back pain. You can also use it to support your baby when she is learning to sit.

  4. Spoon Feeding Bottle- This is a magical spill free feeding bottle. Once you start feeding your baby semi solids, feeding your little one can get very messy. All you have to do is puree the mixture and fill it in the bottle and feed away!! But make sure it's washed and sterilized before use.

  5. Kailash Jeevan- It is an Ayurvedic cream that is not easily available in the market. It is the best ointment cream to apply on your baby for wounds, cuts, rashes, redness. It can be used on any body part, by anyone. Can be used for babies and adults too. It is also eaten by some people if advised by the doctor in case of certain symptoms. I use Kailash Jeevan like a nappy cream. My baby never gets nappy rash.

  6. Sterilizer - Rather than boiling the bottles you can wash them nicely and put them in the sterilizer. It’s easy and hassle free. All you have to do is add some water and press a button and your done! You can also leave them in the sterilizer as they are germ free and safe.

  7. Nipple Shield - First you have a baby. Then you have to breastfeed. Omg! This is just the beginning. In the first month you baby would want to be stuck to your boob. Some mothers tend to get bruised and find it difficult to breastfeed because it hurts and becomes sensitive. In cases like this use a nipple shield while feeding your little one. It eases the pain and you know for sure your baby is drinking milk. Nipple shields allows your nipples to heal. But you have to make sure that they are sterilised before use.

  8. Coconut Oil - Please please please use coconut oil for yourself and your baby. You can apply it on your tummy for your stretch marks, on your nipples if they get bruised after breastfeeding. It can be used for maalish for your baby before their bath. It can also be applied before you make your baby wear her diaper. It prevents the baby from getting rashes. It is one of the most common and useful things for a mother and her baby.

  9. Palna - A very useful thing to put your baby to sleep . If your baby tends to wake up during her nap you can easily rock her back to sleep. Most of them got wheels so it's easy to move around in the house if needed.

  10. Powder Milk Container- These are really useful for baby outings. They are designed to hold pre- measured formula milk in their containers. You can make milk really quickly without any spilling or wastage of the milk formula.

  11. New Born Baby Pillow - This is a special type of pillow for the baby to prevent flat head syndrome. The pillow is filled with mustard and rai seeds to support the baby’s head. It is easily available on Amazon.

  12. High Chair - you obviously don't need them in the first few months after your baby arrives. But once your baby can sit, a high chair is highly recommended! I used to feed my baby on the bed initially with the support of a pillow. My mom gifted me a wooden high chair with a plastic attachable table. I felt it was most easy to feed my baby in the chair. Your baby stays put so you don't have to run behind them to eat. Give them things to play with when they are eating so they are occupied so it makes feeding easy. The high chair I use can be used as a high chair and later can be converted into a table and chair as well.

So what are you waiting for? Make your list and start shopping! =D

You’re going to love it!
